Catalogue of Izzy #12

{Isabel comes over to speak to Mummy and Daddy, wearing a set of gold Mardi Gras-style beads}
Isabel: "I'm going to wear this and be the mother. I'm going to take the babies and put them in line for the doctor."
Mummy: "What happens then?"
Isabel: "If something happens, you don't say nothing." {Isabel scampers off to play.}
Mummy to Daddy: "We need to get better insurance. This hospital is ske-tchy."
Daddy: "Hi Everybody!"

Now, she's treating Orin's apparent broken foot with a princess sticker and dog food. o_O

Project 365 - June & July

Yeah, that's right. You are going to get two months worth of pictures in one shot. The good news is, I will just link them from FB so that you don't have to wait for oodles of pictures to load.

Summer time!

That is our entire summer album to date. Feel free to check in again over the course of the summer. There will be additions. :)

I won't leave you with only an album. I have been doing little photo documentaries as well that I will share with you.

The first one is: NDI @ 18-months. This is what NDI looks like for us right now. I just took pics of some fun stuff that I thought might give non-NDIers a glimpse inside.

Sleeping boy with a death grip on two of his four bedtime water bottles.

We need a Head Bottle Washer.

Diaper sale....NDI-style!

Nothing like a diaper pail right next to your bed and in both upstairs bathrooms and in Orin's room...yikes.

Two days worth of Orin's laundry. Mostly bedding and pjs because, before his med change, I was changing his bed 3 times per night.

When it wasn't a gazillion degrees, I had 2-3 pair of jammies hanging on my headboard at any one time because he needed to be changed so many times through the night.

Also, because I am going for my surgery soon, I felt it was in my/Orin's best interest to get his room set up and move him in. Here's the end result:

I haven't fogotten about you...I promise

Though I can see how you might think that. I just had to put others before me for a while since I will be basically useless for a month soon. You are now wondering "Why is she being so damn cryptic? Spit it out woman!!" Well, I am having a pretty major surgery on July 29th.

The month of June was spent much like this:

While you may THINK this is a group of women sprinting, it is, in fact a group of teachers just trying to get everything required of them during the final month of school completed.

July has been spent mostly getting the house up to snuff (it tends to lag in cleanliness and tidiness throughout the school year because I'd rather spend my free time with my family) and spending time with the kiddos :) I've also been trying to get things in place for when I go for my surgery. I would like to leave everyone as well off as possible so that the kids, husband and family coming to assist them (to whom I am immensely grateful) have a smooth transition and little disruption. This may be wishful thinking.

I will post pics of what we've been up to next, but in the meantime, here's the link to my surgery journal blog

Orin is....well....see for yourself.

Project 365 - May 30th & 31st (Dance Spectacular!)

Here are the photos from show #1, which we got to see.

These are from day #2. The bottom one is a quirky "whale car" parked outside the new convention center. It is advertising the Bay of Fundy as one of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World

Project 365 - May 16th to 29th

Sweet Ride!

Isabel participated in the LHHS Best Buddies Fun Run and she ran her little heart out. She said she had fun and I think the photo and video prove it :)

Traffic....it has been kind of crappy since the Princess Margaret Bridge closed. It is making our lives a little more challenging, especially when it comes to getting Isabel to daycare.

mmmmm....homemade peanut butter cups.

Isabel wanted to have her hair done like the girl on her shirt. This was the best we could do, but I thought it was pretty good :)

Poor Orin-boo wasn't well toward the end of last week, so I kept him home with me on Friday. Here he is sleeping in the sling (are you getting tired of seeing pics like this :P )

A bottle and syringe cleaning.

A cuddle for Gramma <3

Where's Isabel?

THERE she is!

I put Isabel's hair up in rags to make it curly for the dance show. Here she is with it up. Super cute :D

Catalogue of Izzy #10

{We'd just finished watching Follow the Feather, an episode of the Backyardigans featuring a wise, gypsy-type character called "The Mysterious Lady", who gives the other characters advice about their quest. Izzy had been quoting and pretending to be the Mysterious Lady for the last little while.}
Mummy: Isabel I need some help with the laundry. I would like you to sort out all of the socks and facecloths please.
Isabel: I'm the Mysterious Lady.
Mummy: Perfect! I need some help with the clothes, Mysterious Lady.
Isabel: The Mysterious Lady knows much. The Mysterious Lady doesn't do clothes.

Project 365 - May 15th

It rained today.....just as it has every day for the last two weeks....so we made a "tent" in the living room (Isabel just learned about camping at school this week, so my fort became a tent immediately upon her viewing it). We had great fun; we made shadow puppets against the roof with a flashlight and read books and played instruments(both of which were far more entertaining due simply to their being transported under a blanket suspended on kitchen chairs) among other things.

OMG! It's a Sasquatch running into our campsite! Run for your lives!!!!!

Oh....no...I take that back. It is simply the most hilarious photo I've taken of this child to date. He was cranky because I was taking pics instead of picking him up (he is teething and, therefore, moody). This is the result.

Project 365 - May 14th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISCHIEF!

She had visitors....whom she was not actually allowed to interact with...

a doe (who has been by previous springs as well)...

and her sweet fawn.

Project 365 - May 9th-13th

We are going to take this week's pics a few steps at a time. The week was kind of quiet, but I've taken oodles of pics this weekend, so brace yourself for multiple posts.
Here are Monday through Friday's pictures:

On Monday, I had PD and Orin and I each had a doctor's appointment. Below is a summary of his measurements. We are SO pleased he is doing well at maintaining weight. Also, take note at where the discrepancy in proportions lies with this child as well....hats will never be popular in this house.

Orin has been making leaps and bounds in his communication lately. When the doctor asked on Monday if he is talking, he was impressed by my claim that Orin has 5-10 words. I wondered if I was exaggerating, so I've been counting them and I realised I actually underestimated. At last count, he regularly uses 12 words and 3 signs (he recently added "done" to this repertoire) and he learns new multiple new things daily now. It is amazing. Anyway, below, Isabel is teaching him an alternative meaning for "cheese".

On Wednesday, I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Bill Clinton speak. I really wasn't sure what I was in for and tried to keep my expectations low. Well, I am SO glad I went; I had a really great time and found him really inspiring.

Orin (don't worry...Isabel will show up soon...it has just been a big week for this guy) has been using soft-spouted sippy cups for a while now. We transitioned him relatively easily from bottles (which leaked like sieves) to these in order to keep his bed from getting so wet. Well, we've hit the same problem with these because he is damaging them by using them the way he does (biting) and I can't find the spouts ANYWHERE in Fredericton...as a matter of fact, the stores that carry the bottles themselves are phasing them out. So we've realised we need to work on moving him to the hard-spouted sippies that we have around. He's been a bit stubborn about it, so the fact that he started using it on his own this week was a big deal. We are going to start phasing the hard sippies into daytime use over the next couple of weeks and hopefully take the leap to using them at night too in June. Wish us luck.

Friday was kijiji day! Well, one purchase was made Thursday night and then two were made on Friday. Here is the loot.

Project 365 - May 8th

IT'S A PICTURE EXPLOSION!!

We went for a walk by the river today because it was beautiful and because it is always interesting to be down near the river when it is swollen in spring. Enjoy the resulting photoshoot :)
